Scoliosis and Spine Center

Why Spine Center?

Spinal disorders are among the most common health problems in society.
In this field, the greatest need is a multidisciplinary approach that brings together different specialties under one roof. Our Spine Center provides diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up services for spinal and spinal cord diseases with a multidisciplinary perspective.

Our Center offers comprehensive solutions to our patients through the coordinated work of neurosurgery, orthopedics and traumatology, physical therapy, and rehabilitation departments. Radiology, anesthesia and intensive care, algology (pain management), oncology, neurology, psychology, nutrition, and dietetics departments also actively participate in supporting the diagnosis and treatment process.

Our aim is to provide patients from both Turkey and abroad with academic-level healthcare services supported by the most advanced technology in the field of spinal surgery.

    What Is Spine Surgery?

Spine surgery is a surgical specialty focused on the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and structural disorders of the spine.

It includes surgical procedures used in the treatment of advanced spinal conditions that do not improve with medication or physical therapy. The goal is to relieve nerve compression, reduce pain, restore mobility, and improve the patient’s quality of life.

Today, thanks to minimally invasive techniques (performed through small incisions), patients recover faster, with reduced risks of infection and complications.

The most commonly performed spine surgeries include lumbar hernia (disc) surgery, cervical hernia surgery, and spinal fracture surgeries caused by trauma.

Proper surgical interventions performed by specialist physicians significantly improve patients’ quality of life.

What Is Endoscopic (Minimally Invasive) Spine Surgery?

Endoscopic Spine Surgery is a modern, minimally invasive surgical technique used in the treatment of spinal disorders.

What Are the Advantages of the Endoscopic Method?

    • An incision of approximately 7 mm.
    • Short operation time (between 15 minutes and 1 hour).
    • Early mobility and the possibility of early discharge.
    • The opportunity to return to social and work life earlier.
    • Less pain and reduced need for painkillers.

He has shared his experience with colleagues in Turkey and abroad through live surgical training sessions and has become a leading name in the fields of scoliosis and endoscopic spine surgery.

A Multidisciplinary Team in Spine Health

Spine surgery is a multidisciplinary field.

    Why Is Spine Health Important?

The spine is the most important structural support that keeps the body upright. It protects the spinal cord, through which nerves from the brain pass. Therefore, spinal health affects not only posture but also mobility, the musculoskeletal system, and even the functioning of internal organs.

When spinal disorders are neglected, they can lead to chronic pain, restricted movement, and a significant decrease in quality of life.

What Are the Common Health Problems of the Spine and Their Treatment Methods

Daily habits, posture disorders, trauma, or the aging process can lead to various spinal health problems. When these conditions are diagnosed early, the treatment process becomes much more successful.

    Treatment Methods:

As important as maintaining spine health is choosing the right treatment methods for existing conditions. At this point, the specific surgical fields practiced in our center include:

    • Pediatric Deformity Surgery (Scoliosis Surgery): Aims to correct scoliosis and similar spinal curvatures that occur during childhood and adolescence.
    • Adult Deformity Surgery:Covers the surgical treatment of spinal deformities such as scoliosis and kyphosis in adults.
    • Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery: This technique, performed through small incisions, allows patients to recover faster and reduces the risk of complications.
    • Endoscopic Spine Surgery:Allows for a more comfortable treatment of conditions such as lumbar and cervical disc herniations through modern, camera-assisted surgical techniques.

    Health Problems:

Daily habits, posture disorders, trauma, or the aging process can lead to various spinal health problems.

    • Lumbar Disc Herniation :It is one of the most common spinal problems. It occurs when the outer fibers of the spinal discs tear, allowing the jelly-like substance inside to leak out. This condition compresses the spinal nerves, causing severe pain in the lower back, hips, and legs. It can lead to restricted movement and even nerve damage..
    • Cervical Disc Herniation : It is a condition that occurs when the discs between the cervical vertebrae become damaged and protrude into the spinal or nerve canal, putting pressure on the nerves.

    • Lumbar Spinal Stenosis :It is a condition that occurs when the spinal canal in the lower back (lumbar region) narrows for various reasons, putting pressure on the nerves.
    • Traumatic Spinal Fractures: Traumas such as falls, traffic accidents, or high-impact injuries can cause spinal fractures. They may present with severe back or lower back pain, limited mobility, and neurological symptoms.
    • Spinal Cord Tumors: These are benign or malignant masses that develop inside or around the spinal cord. Symptoms include back and lower back pain, numbness, weakness, and walking difficulties.
    • Scoliosis (Spinal Curvature) : It refers to a lateral spinal curvature of more than 10 degrees and is a truly three-dimensional deformity. It is a serious spinal condition that can occur at any age and is seen as an S- or C-shaped curvature. It most commonly appears during adolescence, a period of rapid growth.
    • Kyphosis (Hunchback) : It is a condition in which the upper part of the spine curves forward abnormally, causing the back to appear rounded and leading to posture disorders.

When spinal disorders are diagnosed early, the treatment process becomes much more successful. Maintaining spinal health is possible through regular exercise, proper posture habits, and expert supervision.
